2023, Domaine William Fèvre, CHABLIS, 1er Cru, 'Vaulorent'
Description
2023, Domaine William Fèvre, CHABLIS, 1er Cru, 'Vaulorent'The 2023 Chablis Vaulorent 1er Cru has a mineral driven bouquetoyster shells and a touch of petrichor, quite intense. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant "bite" on the entry. A twist of sour lemon imparts tension and gets the saliva flowering. Fine weight on the finish, this should age well in bottle. 90 92 Neal Martin, Vinous (2024). Sourced from the upper part of the climat and planted with 40 to 60 year old vines, the 2023 Chablis 1er Cru
Wafting from the glass with notes of dark berries
The palate is “gourmand”
with its 28hl/h yield (compared to 33hl/h in 2020 but with almost 20% more berries this year
exotic spices
Vibrant acids and open-knit aromatics lend energy as the 2020 gradually unfurls in the glass
a whole array of floral and spice notes is unleashed: lavender
There is perhaps more red fruit than black and less initial opulence
96 Neal Martin
in the wine business since 1435
I think this is the sole 2021 that is not in bottle yet
but just over 3ha of vines
followed by touches of pencil shavings
