Tonga Stool 31
Description
Tonga Stool 31Our collection of Tonga stools originate from the Tonga people of Zimbabwe. The stools have been hand carved by the community using indigenous wood. The maker creates unique designs each time, so no two stools are identical. As the Tonga stool is used as a portable seat which is carried to neighbouring communities for ceremonies and gatherings they often vary in size, with the larger stool and more difficult stools to transport harder to come by.
They are traditionally worn during dances at ceremonies and are thought to frighten and chase away those with evil intentions
We love this stool for its more simplistic carvings and detailing
Our Gigi sculptural vase is a unique piece from the artist Julie Deault of Musette Ceramique who is based in Canada
These jugs were originally used to collect and store milk before being lovingly restored
Our Dune Grasses cushion is made with a cotton blend textile in beautiful neutrals with a subtle pattern
The basket conveys messages of beauty
