Quartz with Lazulite InclusionsThis one is a first for us. We've never seen Lazulite included inside of Quartz from Madagascar. Marofarafara is a well known locality for Lazulite dating back at least 50 years, but gems are next to impossible to obtain. This "Emerald" cut gem is essentially a colorless Quartz, but if you look closely, you can see small gem quality crystals of rich royal blue Lazulite floating inside. If you collect inclusion gems or just odd association stones,

but those specimens are typically white

but with the exception of yellow

The top of the crystal actually shows a very slight "bend" which is not uncommon for Vivianite but not often seen from this locality

weighing in at a noteworthy 577 grams

A great classic Bolivian Stibnite specimen

fine quality crystal so aesthetically positioned at the ideal point at the top center spot of the specimen

There is very little damage to speak of

0 cm long free-standing on a thin plate of host rock matrix with several associated GEM quality

my grandfather acquired this specimen from the estate of Waldo Butler

the piece is a complete "floater" with no point of attachment on any side

backlit shows a rich burnt orange hue with good clarity
